Commutrics

Commutrics is an application that tracks daily commute patterns. Through the gamification of the daily commute tracking, users earn incentives and can win weekly/monthly prizes prizes. The application provides the ability for the user to see their carbon footprint and make sustainable behaviors changes. It’s as simple as signing up and creating a free account.

“Commutrics' mission is to promote sustainability in transportation choices. Our innovative platform connects commuters, employers, and transportation organizations in one place, enabling us to measure the impacts of commuting and promote behaviors that maximize health, productivity, and sustainability. Our goal is to create a more sustainable future by empowering individuals and organizations to make informed and sustainable choices when it comes to transportation.” (Commutrics LLC.)

A Little More About Commutrics

Commutrics users have the option to manually input modes of travel or, if they would like an automated experience, then they can turn on travel tracking. The travel tracking will geolocate the path of travel then automatically calculate how these contributions have affected the environment. It will show the amount of CO2e that has been saved, as well as how many trees this CO2e is equivalent to planting. It will also show how much money can saved through changing commuting habits. Over time, that savings can be significant.

The Commutrics goal is to make transportation “accessible, sustainable, and enjoyable,” with the ultimate mission of sustainable commuting becoming a common practice. One way Commutrics does this is by aiming to bring together a community of commuters and connect drivers with other people who drive to the same general area to promote carpooling. The Auraria Sustainable Campus Program (ASCP) is partnering with Commutrics to track how students get to campus. The ACSP’s Commutrics initiative will begin on September 30th and will last until November 22nd .Through this data the ASCP calculates the greenhouse gas emissions through transmission that the campus produces. This initiative offers weekly and monthly drawings and incentives for commuting to campus with more sustainable methods. The weekly drawing is entered by logging two or more trips during the week. The monthly drawing is entered automatically for the Most Miles Walked, Most Miles Bikes, Most Transit Trips and Most Carpool Trips.
