Earth Week Extravaganza Day 1

Earth Week 2024 kicks off with two days of main programming, including weeklong giveaways, a chance to sign up for our bike giveaway, our annual clothing swap, waste collection events, sustainability games and activities, and more! Join us for our most ambitious week of events yet!

Clothing Swap

Help us keep pre-loved clothes out of the landfill while promoting conscious consumerism. Swap clothes (donate and/or take new-to-you clothing) during Earth Week at the ASCP Table located at the Bandshell at the corner of Larimer and 10th St on Monday, April 22nd, and Tuesday, April 23rd. Clothing donation collection will begin April 8th. Donations can be dropped at collection boxes around the Tivoli. Please only donate clean, re-usable clothing (not ripped, stained, or worn out). 

Donations are not required for participation.

Collection Events:

Compost Collection

Auraria Campus is the first in the state of Colorado to fully take on compost operations from collection, hauling, sorting, and processing. Bring a bag of food waste to the ASCP table at the Bandshell Monday and Tuesday to enter our weeklong giveaway. All food waste will be turned into healthy compost and mixed into campus gardens to improve campus soil health. Giveaway winners will be announced at the End of Week Celebration.

E-Waste Collection

The Auraria Sustainable Campus Program began its partnership with local organization Blue Star Recyclers to initiate our recycling program in 2018, helping to close the loop on hard to recycle electronic products.! Bring your E-Waste Items to the ASCP table at the Bandshell Monday and Tuesday to enter our weeklong giveaway. Winners will be announced at the End of Week Celebration.

H2R Collection

In efforts to make recycling of hard items more accessible, the Auraria Sustainable Campus Program has four hard to- recycle programs. Each one allows for greater waste diversion on the Auraria Campus and helps close the loop on commonly discarded products. As of February 2024, we've diverted: 141,700 lbs. with our H2R program.

Bring your H2R Items to the ASCP table at the Bandshell Monday and Tuesday to enter our weeklong giveaway. Winners will be announced at the End of Week Celebration.

Giveaways:

Bike Giveaway

The ASCP is partnering with the Auraria Campus Police Department to rehome pre-loved bicycles. Stop by the ASCP table at the Bandshell on Monday and Tuesday to enter the drawing to win a bicycle. 

Weeklong Giveaway

We believe sustainability should be fun and rewarding, so we are offering a weeklong giveaway over Earth Week. Enter to win prizes (TBD) by participating in one or more of following: Creek Clean Up, Alternate Transit Day, or by participating in E-Waste, H2R, or food scrap collection to the ASCP table at the Bandshell on Monday and Tuesday. Winners will be announced at the End of Week Celebration.
